▣ The road to the AGLF(Asia Golf Leaders Forum) Asian Player of the Year has begun.


Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) officially announced the series at the signing ceremony.

 SEOUL, JUNE 16 2021 – DB Group Korea Women’s Open will tee off this Thursday as the first tournament of the newly minted Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) series organized by the Asian Golf Leaders Forum (AGLF).

 The first Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) Series in 2021 is officially announced at Lotte Hotel, Seoul. Korea’s national title tournament, DB Group Korea Women’s Open to be held at the Rainbows Country Club starting from tomorrow, June 17th 2021.

 Due to an outbreak of the unexpectedly Covid-19, a small group of key personnel was gathered the signing ceremony between the AGLF and the Korea Golf Association (KGA).  Mr. Jung-tai Kim, chairman of the AGLF & KLPGA, Mr. Jong-myung Lee, President of the Korea Golf Association, Mr. Hyung-mo Kang, Vice President of the Korea Golf Association and Mr. Paul Park, secretary general of the AGLF were attended the signing ceremony today.

“The first tournament of the LAT series at the DB Group Korea Women’s Open marks a significant milestone for Asian Women’s golf,” says Mr. Jung-tai Kim, chairman of the AGLF. “We will continue to charge forward with our mission in enhancing international sports relations and promoting friendship between Asian countries through the spirit of golf.”.

 With a mutual understanding and support behind with the R&A, the Ladies Asian Tour (LAT) S eries commits to boosting Asian women’s golf starting with the DB Group Korea Women’s Open, the Hana Financial Group Championship in late September and the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open in early December. In addition to the existing KLPGA tournaments across Asia region such as the Taiwan Women’s Open with SBS in November and the Hyosung Championship with SBS in Vietnam at the 1st week of December will also be part of the series from 2021.

 The LAT Series committee was organized to begin discussing several parties including the Indonesia Golf Association regarding the inaugural national title golf tournament, and Thailand Ladies Open in Thailand at this point with the hope that at least six (6) tournaments in 2021, and expanded to ten (10) tournaments to be joined in the LAT Series in the year of 2023. All the LAT Series will be aired throughout Asia by provision of live signals to be made available international feed via satellite to broadcast in Asia.

  Plans are also in the works for LAT Series’ own ranking system, and establishing the AGLF Asian Player of the Year Award. The AGLF Asian Player of the Year will be awarded to the player who earns most points from each LAT Series tournament played this year. The AGLF plans to make the announcement regarding the official procedure to be awarded based upon the point basis per tournament.

 The AGLF is a non-profit organization working to establish Asia's own women’s golf series with the catch phrase, “Of the Asian, By the Asian, For the Asian” by co-developing with existing or establishing new tournaments across the Asia Pacific region. The AGLF will continue seeking the mutual coordination from the R&A and put its support behind the AGLF and the LAT Series for this new development of the women’s golf in Asia.
